Member Spotlight: Simon
Simon Hermant is an owner of WOW 1 DAY PAINTING.
How did your Ultimate journey begin?
My painting business was asked to quote on painting the entire gym before Ultimate opened its doors. I was living around the corner at that time and our Manager suggested I stop in and check out our work. I left with a membership!
What’s the most rewarding part of crushing a workout at the gym?
Knowing I get to eat whatever I want; mostly chocolate chip cookies.
What have you learned about balancing health and wellness with you career?
That balancing the two is probably the hardest part of my week. However, without consistent exercise I not only have less energy, I'm also less productive. With an injection of exercise in my day, 12-14 hours of work is much easier to manage. I invest more in my health and wellness than I do in anything else.
What keeps you coming through our doors?
The staff. It’s really nice to feel like part of the family. Ultimate has done an incredible job of building a community. I truly feel at home when at the gym — it’s become my community centre. The training professionals are unmatched anywhere I have ever exercised. In fact, since joining Ultimate, I've moved further away from the gym, but I still make the trip because there is no better place to invest my time.
Anything Sam or Paula! HIIT and Barre are staples and calendarized in my week. I’d do Barre every day if Paula let me. (Hint… after this you’re going to need to schedule more Barre classes!)
Go-to/favourite meal post workout?
Weekdays…. A salad with some protein. Weekends… a few beers!
What’s in your gym bag?
Gym shoes, spin shoes and Bounce sheets!
Any advice to those who haven’t been to Ultimate?
Try as many classes as you can. You’ll find a few that you can’t live without.
