Sarah Huggins is the Owner of Mary Be Kitchen, offering whole food for the soul...  And mom of 3!

How did your Ultimate journey begin?

In October 2013, when Ultimate first opened! I was 6 ½ months pregnant with my first child and had recently moved from a ‘hood where there was an abundance of boutique gyms, so I was thrilled to find Ultimate opening in my new ‘hood! 

What’s the most rewarding part of crushing a workout at the gym?

Eating whatever I want for the rest of the day. 😊

What have you learned about balancing health and wellness with you career?

That it’s impossible? Ok, maybe not impossible but some days are better than others. I try not to be hard on myself when I can’t find the perfect balance. Also, for me exercise = sanity. So no matter how busy or crazy things get, I always try to make the time to sweat it out. Even if it’s just 20 minutes on the treadmill.

Favourite workout?

Wednesday morning Ultimate Abs and A** with Sam. Flat butt be gone! 

Go-to/favourite meal post workout?

Always a cappuccino. Always. With whole milk. And then a Mary Be Kitchen meal of course! On the weekend, our Weekender Brunch (poached eggs, grilled avo, smoked salmon, multigrain grilled bread and salad), and on weekdays a Be Square combo with grilled chicken, broccoli and sweet potatoes. Filling but healthful!

What’s in your gym bag?

What gym bag? 😊 My gym bag is whatever bag I can find as I rush out the front door, and it’s usually got a couple diapers, some toys, a squashed snack item, and a pile of paperwork. 

What keeps you coming back?

The intimacy of the place; the connection to the neighbourhood and the fact that I see the same faces all the time. I love that. As well, I have always been a class person (as in, a die hard step-classer in the late 90s!) and the classes at Ultimate are some of the best around. I’m still waiting for step classes to make their comeback.
